Section 3A-1. General accommodation requirements

Accommodation provided by the employer to the employee must be properly constructed, furnished and maintained. Among other things, the accommodation must be suitable in terms of:
  1. a.
    daylight and views,
  2. b.
    maintenance and possibility of satisfactory cleaning and good standards of hygiene,
  3. c.
    temperature, humidity, ventilation and air quality,
  4. d.
    toxic and harmful substances,
  5. e.
    biohazards,
  6. f.
    storage, preparation and consumption of food,
  7. g.
    clothes storage,
  8. h.
    washing and drying clothes,
  9. i.
    fire and electrical safety.
In situations of danger, employees staying in the accommodation must be able to be quickly and safely evacuated from all rooms. Section 2-21 of the Workplace Regulations relating to escape routes and emergency exits applies correspondingly to accommodation conditions.
Rooms and places referred to in Section 3A-2 to Section 3A-4 must not be installed or equipped in a manner that prevents them from performing their function.
First aid equipment should be available in the immediate vicinity.
